Holiday Eggs
Holiday Eggs is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 16 slices italian bread, 1/2 lb. grated monterey jack/colby cheese, 1/2 lb. grated sharp cheddar cheese, 1 c. chopped green pepper and 1/2 c. chopped onion, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Saute green pepper and onion.
Remove crusts from bread; butter both sides.
Line 9X13 pan with 8 slices of bread.
Mix cheese, pepper, onion and mushrooms and spread HALF of that mixture over bread.
Layer with remaining 8 slices of bread and cover with remaining cheese mixture.
Mix together eggs, milk, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper; pour over bread and cheese layers.
Refrigerate overnight.
Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
