Mix sugar and Karo together; bring to boil over medium heat. Add peanuts when mixture reaches 270°.
Continue to cook until 290°.
Remove from heat.
Add baking soda.
Beat with wooden spoon until you reach a nice, warm, brown color.
Turn out onto well-buttered cookie sheet.
Let cool and break into pieces.
