Make a mush by cooking cornmeal in 2 c. milk; stir until milk is gone and meal is thick (burns easily), set aside to cool.

Add scalded milk and water to a large bowl; add yeast and sugar.

Let stand about 10 minutes.

Mix other ingredients, adding the mush with the beaten eggs.

This is a fairly stick dough.

Use plenty of flour on a cloth to knead.

Let rise.

Roll out and cut in strips.

Tie strips into knots and dip in melted butter.

Let them rise.

Bake at 350 degrees.

Keeps well and reheats well.
