Halupki
Halupki is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 medium head cabbage, 1 lb. lean ground beef, 1/2 c. rice, salt and pepper (season to taste) and 1 tsp. garlic powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Choose cabbage (not too solid); pare around core and remove core.
In large pot, bring water to boil; preboil cabbage.
Leaves will fall off; remove leaves as they wilt.
Cool leaves; use paring knife to remove thick center ridge.
Mix next 5 ingredients together; place heaping tablespoon into center of leaf; roll up. Shred center small leaves of cabbage.
In bottom of pot, lay rolled cabbage on shredded cabbage.
Next, cover with mixture of tomato soup and tomatoes.
Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour.
Serves 4.
