Gumdrop Cake
Gumdrop Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. raisins (white or black), 1 1/2 lb. large gumdrops (assorted colors, can omit licorice), 1 c. walnuts, cut small, 4 c. flour and 1 c. shortening (butter or substitute), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Cut up the gumdrops; adding half of the flour makes the cutting easier.
Then add the raisins and nuts to same mixture. Cream the shortening, eggs and sugar.
Add a teaspoon of soda, dissolved first in a tablespoon of warm water.
Last, add the applesauce and the remainder of flour to other dry ingredients. Bake about an hour or more, depending on the size of the pan.
