Green Bean Soup
Green Bean Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 meaty ham bone (about 2 lb.), 2 qt. water, 4 c. green beans (1-inch pieces), 3 c. cubed, pared potatoes and 2 medium onions, sliced, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Cook ham bone in water until tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Remove meat from bone.
Put meat back in soup base.
Add green beans, potatoes, onions, parsley, savory, salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil or until vegetables are tender.
Skim off excess fat. Just before serving, stir in light cream.
Makes about 3 1/2 quarts.
