Greek Easter Bread
Greek Easter Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 c. milk, 1 tsp. salt, 2 tbsp. sugar, 2 tbsp. butter or margarine and 2 tbsp. grated orange rind, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Combine milk, salt, butter, orange rind and sugar.
Bring to boil and then cool.
Put warm water in a large bowl.
Sprinkle with yeast and dissolve.
Add milk mixture and beat in half of flour. Add remaining flour alternately with eggs.
Stir until dough leaves sides of bowl and is very stiff.
Knead until smooth and elastic (3 to 5 minutes).
Place in a greased bowl, cover and let raise until doubled.
