Sort and wash the beans, broken, halves, etc., included. Combine the garlic, onion, chili powder, black pepper, garlic salt, red pepper and salt pork.
Fill heavy-duty pot to full level with hot water.
Bring to a boil and continue to boil at medium heat until beans become partly soft.
Add sugar and catsup.
Add salt to taste and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.
