Made with 3 to 4 potatoes, slices of ham or canadian bacon, salt and pepper, 1/2 c. water and sliced apples, unpeeled (1/2-inch thick), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Scrub potatoes (do not peel) and slice about 1/8-inch thick. Salt and pepper lightly.
Put potatoes in pan or skillet with a cover.
Layer with slices of ham or Canadian bacon, then sliced apples.
Sprinkle apple layer lightly with brown sugar and add 4th layer with slices of ham; repeat layering process to top of skillet.
Add butter and water.
Cover and cook 1/2 to 3/4 hour on stove top burner (heat level depends on your stove).
