Made with 3 large cooking apples, peeled and thickly sliced, 1/2 c. pitted prunes, 3/4 c. raisins, 1 orange, peeled and sectioned and 3 c. plus 3 tbsp. water, divided, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. In a saucepan, combine apples, prunes, raisins, orange and 3 cups water.
Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Stir in sugar and cinnamon. Combine cornstarch and remaining water. Stir into saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook for 2 minutes. Chill.
Yields 6 to 8 servings.
