Grandma's Black Walnut Cake
Grandma'S Black Walnut Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 lb. butter, at room temperature, 1/4 c. crisco, 3 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. salt and 6 eggs, at room temperature, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt three times; set aside. Blend sugar, margarine and Crisco together.
Add eggs individually and beat with each one.
Beat until fluffy.
Put in flour mixture and milk a little at a time and blend.
Add lemon and vanilla. Flour walnuts to keep from sinking.
Stir in walnuts with spoon. Pour into greased and floured tube cake pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 1 1/2 hours.
