Gold Nugget Biscuits
Gold Nugget Biscuits is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal (white is also delicious), 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2/3 c. milk and 2/3 c. sifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Combine cornmeal and milk and let stand 10 minutes.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Cut shortening into flour mixture until it resembles fine crumbs.
Add cornmeal and milk mixture and blend until all ingredients are moistened. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.
Bake at 425Β° for 10 minutes.
Makes 16 to 18 biscuits.
