Gloucestershire Pie
Gloucestershire Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. lean lamb, cooked and sliced, 1 lb. onions, thinly sliced, 1 lb. cooking apples, thinly sliced, 2 oz. butter and pinch of rosemary and nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Set oven to 375Β°.
Put onions and apples in a pan and cover with water.
Boil for 5 minutes.
Drain well.
Meanwhile boil swede for 10 minutes, then add potato and cook until both are soft.
Drain well and mash together until smooth.
Grease an ovenproof dish with the butter.
Place layers of meat, onion and apple in the dish, seasoning and sprinkling each layer with herbs as you fill up the dish.
Pour in the gravy and top with the mashed potato and swede mixture.
Dot top with butter and bake uncovered for 3/4 to 1 hour.
Serve with a green vegetable. Serves 4.
