German Red Cabbage
German Red Cabbage is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 tbsp. lard or bacon drippings, 6 c. shredded red cabbage, 2 medium cooking apples, peeled and chopped, 1/3 c. finely chopped onion and 1/4 c. packed brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Combine all ingredients in 2 1/2-quart glass casserole.
Cover with glass lid.
Microwave for 8 minutes on High.
Stir well and continue cooking for 8 to 9 minutes on High, or until cabbage is tender-crisp.
Let stand, covered, 2 minutes before serving. Makes about 6 servings.
