German Chocolate Pie
This deep-dish German Chocolate Pie combines semisweet chocolate, condensed milk, eggs, hot water, pecans, and coconut for a glossy baked filling. The pie cools into dense slices with a crisp crust and a toasted nut-coconut top.
Heat the oven to 350 F.
Melt the margarine and semisweet chocolate together over low heat, then let the mixture cool slightly.
Whisk in the condensed milk, eggs, hot water, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
Pour the chocolate filling into the deep-dish crust and scatter pecans and coconut over the top.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes, until the filling is set around the edges; cool before slicing.
