German Chocolate Cake
German Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. sugar, 1 c. shortening, 4 egg yolks, 1/4 lb. german sweet chocolate and 1/2 c. boiling water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream together sugar and shortening.
Add egg yolks one at a time.
Melt chocolate in boiling water and add to mixture.
Add flour alternately with buttermilk (including soda and buttermilk). Add vanilla and salt.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pour into 3 (9-inch) greased and floured cake pans.
Bake 30 minutes at 350Β°.
Fill and ice with German Chocolate Icing.
