Fruit Squares
Fruit Squares is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. flour, 1 c. shortening, 1 c. confectioners sugar, 4 tsp. baking powder and pinch of salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Sift together flour, powdered sugar, baking powder and salt. Add shortening and work as for pie dough.
Beat eggs, add milk and vanilla.
Add liquid to first mixture, mix well and work until it works away from your hands (you can add the rest of the milk at this time if needed).
Divide into 2 parts.
You may chill dough for a short time for easier handling.
Roll out between 2 pieces of wax paper.
Add any filling.
Make slits across top.
Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour.
When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Cut into squares.
