Fried Pies
Fried Pies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. baking powder, 2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted, 2 tbsp. solid shortening (crisco) and 1 egg yolk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Sift salt and baking powder with sifted and measured flour. Blend in shortening.
Combine egg yolk, sugar and milk; stir into flour mixture.
Roll out on a floured board to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into circles 4 or 5 inches in diameter.
Spread a small amount of fruit filling on half of each round.
Fold the other half of crust over filling.
Seal edges with fork dipped in flour. Fry in deep fat at 360Β° until browned.
Drain on absorbent paper; sprinkle with powdered sugar.
