Cut bread into 1-inch cubes and spread in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
Whip eggs, milk and vanilla together and pour over bread cubes.
Cover tightly and chill at least 1 hour or overnight.
Bake, uncovered, for 50 minutes in preheated 350Β° oven.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with syrup.
