French Bread
French Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/4 c. warm water, 1 envelope dry yeast, 1 1/2 tbsp. sugar, 1 1/2 tbsp. oil and 2 1/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Dissolve yeast in water.
Combine all other ingredients (flour last) and knead thoroughly.
(Really punch it out.)
Punch down every 10 minutes for 1 hour.
Divide in half and let rise 10 minutes to 1 hour.
Roll into jelly roll.
Use rolling pin to roll out.
Then roll like jelly roll.
Let rise 1 to 1 1/2 hours on a well-greased cookie sheet.
Bake 30 minutes at 400Β°.
Brush with butter immediately from oven.
