Foundation Yellow Cake
Foundation Yellow Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. butter or part other shortening, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 3 eggs, 1 c. milk or water and 3/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Cream the butter or shortening thoroughly in a deep bowl. (Have it soft before you start.)
Add sugar gradually, beating until the mixture is fluffy and light like whipped cream. Add eggs, beaten until light. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with liquid, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
Beat thoroughly and add flavoring.
Bake in layers or flat loaf pan in preheated 375Β° oven for 30 minutes.
Makes 2 large squares or 3 layers.
