Foundation Sweet Dough
Foundation Sweet Dough is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 pkg. yeast, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 c. lukewarm water, 1 c. milk and 6 tbsp. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Dissolve yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar in lukewarm water.
Scald milk, add shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm.
Add 2 cups flour to make a batter.
Add yeast and beaten eggs.
Knead lightly and place in greased bowl.
Cover and set in warm place, free from draft.
Let rise until doubled in bulk, about 2 hours.
When light, punch down and shape into dinner rolls, buns or coffee cake.
Place on tray and let rise.
Bake at 400° to 425°, about 15 to 20 minutes.
