Fontbonne Bread
Fontbonne Bread is an easy dinner. Made with 3 to 3 1/2 c. flour, 1 tbsp. salt, 1 tbsp. sugar and 2 tbsp. yeast, dissolved in 2 1/2 c. warm water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Mix well with mixer, gradually adding flour.
Turn onto lightly floured table and knead well.
Let rise until double in size.
Divide dough into two.
Spread melted butter on a baking sheet; sprinkle with cornmeal (amount of butter and cornmeal depending on pans).
Place dough, shaped loaves or rolls on sheet and allow to rise.
Bake at 350Β° for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
If desired, can brush with butter or sesame seed.
