Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar and egg.
Stir in Carnation milk and vanilla.
Sift together flour, soda and salt; chill 1 hour.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375Β° about 10 minutes.
