English Toffee
English Toffee is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. powdered sugar, 1/2 c. butter or margarine, 1/2 c. cocoa, 1 c. chopped nuts and 2 eggs, separated, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Cream sugar and butter.
Mix cocoa in well.
Add beaten egg yolks.
Fold in beaten egg whites and add nuts.
Butter pan and spread layer of vanilla wafer crumbs on bottom.
Pour in half of mixture by spoonfuls so it can be spread evenly over crumbs; add another layer of crumbs.
Add rest of mixture and sprinkle top with remainder of crumbs.
Let set in refrigerator 24 hours. Serve with whipped cream on top.
