English Oatmeal Tea Bars
English Oatmeal Tea Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 tbsp. light corn syrup, 8 tbsp. butter, 1/2 lb. light brown sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla and 5 c. oatmeal, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
In saucepan, combine corn syrup, butter, brown sugar and vanilla over low heat until melted.
Stir in oats (and nuts, optional).
Mix well.
Press mixture into a buttered 9 x 13-inch pan and bake in a preheated 300Β° oven for 10 minutes.
Stir mixture well, then press firmly back into pan.
Bake 10 minutes longer.
Do not overbake.
Cookies should be chewy.
Cut into 1 1/2 x 2-inch bars while still warm.
Cool completely in pan. These are also good frosted with melted semi-sweet chocolate.
