Emmy's Rolls
Emmy'S Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 c. self-rising flour, 1/3 c. sugar, 1/2 c. crisco, 1 c. tap water and 1 c. milk, scalded, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Sift flour and 1/3 cup of sugar.
Cut in shortening until it resembles cornmeal.
Scald milk and add tap water. Dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.
Add to flour mixture.
Add water and milk (when cool).
Mix well.
Place dough on floured surface and knead.
Place back in bowl and let rise until double in size.
Knead again and refrigerate until ready to use.
Roll out, shape and let rise 2 to 3 hours.
Bake at 350Β° until golden brown.
