Combine dry ingredients with milk to make thin batter.
Melt margarine in a deep bowl in oven while it is preheating to 350°. Pour batter into middle of melted margarine.
Carefully pour fruit which has been sweetened with 1/2 cup sugar and seasoned as you wish over batter. (Any canned fruit pie filling may be used, too.) Do not stir.
Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until crusted on top.
