Doughnuts
Doughnuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. sugar, 3 tbsp. shortening, 1 tsp. salt, 1 c. scalded milk and 1 pkg. yeast, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Add sugar, shortening and salt to milk.
When lukewarm, add yeast (mixed with 2 tablespoons warm ???).
Add 2 cups flour to make soft sponge.
Set in warm place to rise.
When light, add eggs, nutmeg and flour to make a light dough.
Cover and let rise until double in bulk.
Knead on floured board.
Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut with doughnut cutter.
Cover and let rise again. Fry in deep oil at 375Β°.
Drain on paper towels.
Makes 30 doughnuts.
