Into a saucepan, put 3 cups sugar, 2/3 cup water and syrup. In second saucepan, put 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water.

Let contents of both pans come to a slow boil and boil until it makes a thread several inches long.

Have ready the beaten egg whites in a large mixing bowl and when stiff, pour in the contents of second pan and beat.

Then add the contents of the first pan.

Mix together and add nuts and vanilla.

Then beat together and when stiff drop from spoon onto a sheet of waxed paper.
