Deluxe Buttermilk Biscuits
Deluxe Buttermilk Biscuits is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. dry yeast, 2 tbsp. warm water, 5 c. flour, 1/4 c. sugar and 1 tbsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside.
Combine dry ingredients; cut in shortening with pastry blender until resembles coarse meal.
Add yeast mixture and buttermilk to dry ingredients and mix well.
Turn dough out on a floured surface; knead lightly 4 to 5 times.
Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut with 2-inch biscuit cutter.
Place on greased baking sheet.
Brush tops with melted butter.
Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 3 1/2 dozen biscuits.
May freeze leftovers.
Wrap in foil to reheat at 350° for 15 minutes.
Open foil last 5 minutes.
