Date Pinwheels
Date Pinwheels is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/3 c. chopped dates, 1/2 c. white sugar, 1/2 c. water, 1/2 c. chopped nuts and 2/3 c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Cook the following ingredients until thickened: dates, white sugar, water and chopped nuts.
Set aside while you cream shortening.
Add brown sugar.
Beat and add eggs.
Sift together flour, salt and soda.
Add to cream mixture.
Blend well.
Chill thoroughly. Then roll out in two rectangles 1/4 inch thick. Spread with the date filling and roll up like a Jelly Roll.
Wrap in waxed paper.
Chill overnight.
