Date-Nut Bread
Date-Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/4 c. cut dates, 1 1/2 c. water, 1 tbsp. butter, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 egg, beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

In medium saucepan, combine dates, water, butter and vanilla. Cook 5 minutes.
Add egg and sugar.
Sift flour with remaining ingredients and add to mixture.
Put in a greased and wax paper lined 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Bake in moderate oven, 350Β°, for 1 hour or until done.
Frost and decorate with nuts and candied cherries.
Keeps well.
Can be frozen.
