Date Nut Bread
Date Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. cut dates, 1 tbsp. shortening, 2 tsp. baking powder, 3/4 c. sugar and 1 c. chopped nuts, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Combine dates, boiling water and shortening.
Cover and cool. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Beat sugar and egg together and add to dates alternately with sifted dry ingredients. Add broken nuts; pour into greased loaf pan.
Let stand 20 minutes.
Bake in slow oven at 325Β° for 50 to 60 minutes.
Turn onto cake rack to cool.
Flavor improves after standing 24 hours.
