Date Cake
Date Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. dates, cut up, 1 c. hot water, 1 tsp. baking soda, 2 cubes margarine and 1 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Pour hot water and soda over dates and let cool.
Mix together margarine, sugar and eggs.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa.
Mix all ingredients together and add vanilla. Stir in chocolate chips.
Pour into a 13 x 9-inch pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out dry.
