Date Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. water, 1 c. chopped dates, 1 tsp. soda, 1 c. sugar and 1/2 c. butter, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Mix and let stand water, chopped dates and soda.
Cream sugar and butter.
Add egg and vanilla.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and then add date mixture.
