Date Bars
Date Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. chopped dates, 1 c. water, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 c. chopped nuts (optional) and 1/2 c. margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Cook dates, water, sugar and nuts over low heat until dates are soft. Remove from heat. Cream the margarine and brown sugar and add oats, flour, salt and soda. Divide crumbly mixture in half and spread 1/2 in bottom of a 9 x 12-inch pan.
Pour date mixture over and spread evenly to cover. Top with remaining crumbly mixture. Bake at 350Β° for 20 minutes or until browned.
Cool and cut into bars.
Serves 12.
