Heat oven to 375Β°.
Mix thoroughly sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla.
Mix and sift together flour, soda and salt.
Stir into first mixture.
Add chopped nuts.
Shape 1 level tablespoon of dough into balls.
Place on ungreased baking sheet and flatten with fork that has been dipped in cold water.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
Yields 5 dozen.
