Crumbly Soap
Crumbly Soap is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 10 c. water, 9 c. melted fat (not hot), 1/2 c. ammonia, 1/2 c. borax and 1/2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Mix water, fat, ammonia, borax, sugar and lye in order given in a plastic pail. Sprinkle lye in last. Stir and let set 5 to 10 minutes, again.
Frequently the first hour and half.
Hour throughout the day.
Make sure there is no liquid in the bottom at the end of the day.
(If there is, you may stir it several times the next morning.) After it is all done, let it set in pail a few days, then cover soap or put container to prevent drying out.
Mixture may separate at first.
But it will eventually absorb and look beautiful and crumbly by stirring. For best results make only one batch at a time or use separate container for each batch.
