Country Hush Puppies is an impressive dinner. Made with 2 c. yellow cornmeal, 1 c. all-purpose flour, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 tbsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Combine first 7 ingredients in a medium bowl; set aside. Combine egg and hot sauce; stir in buttermilk.
Pour into first seven dry ingredients, stirring just to mix.
Stir in onion and corn (do not overmix batter).
Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into deep, hot oil (350Β°); cook only a few at a time, turning once. Fry 3 minutes or until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels. Yields 3 dozen.
