Cornmeal Rolls
Cornmeal Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/3 c. cornmeal (stone ground), 1/2 c. sugar, 2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. shortening and 2 c. milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cook first 5 ingredients; cool.
Add yeast that has been dissolved in warm water.
Add eggs; beat well.
Add flour to make firm soft dough.
Knead well on floured board.
Place in bowl, cover, let rise and punch down.
Roll out to 1-inch thickness.
Cut with biscuit cutter.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Cover; let rise.
Bake at 375Β° for 15 minutes.
Yields 18 rolls.
