Congo Squares
Congo Squares is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. shortening, 2 1/4 c. brown sugar, 3 eggs, 2 3/4 c. flour and 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.

Melt shortening and remove from heat.
Add brown sugar, mixing well.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in flour, baking powder and salt.
Add nut meats and chocolate chips.
Mixture will be very stiff.
Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 25 to 30 minutes until tested done.
Cut into squares when cool.
Makes 12 (3 x 3-inch) squares or 48 (1 1/2-inch) squares.
