Sift flour, baking powder and salt.

Melt shortening and stir in brown sugar.

Allow to cool slightly.

Beat in eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each.

Add flour mixture, nuts and chocolate chips.

Pour into greased pan, 9 x 12. Bake at 350Β° for 25 to 30 minutes.

When almost cool, cut into squares.
