Congo Bars
Congo Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 2/3 c. shortening, 2 c. brown sugar and 3 eggs, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Cream the shortening and sugar.
Beat until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
Add vanilla. On low speed, mix in dry ingredients.
Stir in nuts, chips and dates.
Pour into a 13 x 9-inch pan.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes.
