Bake cake according to directions in a 9 x 13-inch pan. While still warm, pierce cake every 1 1/2 inches with wooden spoon handle.
Together for 1 minute. Pour in holes and over cake.
Spread Cool Whip over cake and sprinkle thawed coconut on top.
Chill overnight.
