Christmas Hardtack
Christmas Hardtack is an easy dinner. Made with 2 c. white sugar, 1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. light corn syrup, 1/2 c. hot water, flavoring oils (cinnamon, peppermint, orange, etc.) and food coloring (red, green, etc.), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Mix sugar, syrup and water.
Cook to 278Β°.
Add flavoring (1/4 teaspoon) and coloring (1/4 teaspoon).
Pour immediately onto a buttered marble (or other smooth, heat absorbing marble surface). Use a knife and cut into 3/4-inch lengths, then snip into bite size pieces with kitchen scissors.
Butter hands to work with candy.
