Christmas Bread
Christmas Bread is an impressive baked good you can prepare in about 1 hour 44 minutes. Made with c. milk, scalded, to 2 cakes yeast, c. warm water and 1 tbsp. sugar, c. sugar and to 8 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Cool scalded milk to lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast in warm water and 1 tablespoons sugar.
To the milk add 1 cup sugar, yeast mixture and half the flour.
Beat well.
Add butter, fruit, cardamom, almonds, salt, eggs and remaining flour to make stiff dough.
Knead.
Cover and let rise to double.
Punch down and form two loaves.
Let rise.
When double, bake at 350Β° for about 1 hour.
