Chocolaty Cake Pie
Chocolaty Cake Pie is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 1/2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, 1/2 c. water, 2/3 c. sugar, 1/4 c. butter or margarine and 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Melt chocolate in water; add 2/3 cup sugar.
Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat; stir in butter and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. Set aside to cool.
Sift together flour, 2/3 cup sugar, baking powder and salt.
Add shortening, milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
Beat 2 minutes.
Add egg and beat.
Pour this mixture into pie shell.
Pour chocolate sauce over batter and sprinkle top with nuts.
Bake in a preheated 350Β° oven for 55 to 60 minutes or until cake tester stuck in center comes out clean. Yield:
8 servings.
