Chocolate Town Special Cake
Chocolate Town Special Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 3/4 c. sugar, 2/3 c. shortening, 2 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla and 2 1/2 c. sifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Grease and flour two 9-inch layer cake pans.
Cream the sugar and shortening together until creamy and light.
Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
Add vanilla; sift together with baking soda and salt.
Add alternately with buttermilk.
Make a heavy smooth paste of the cocoa and boiling water.
Cool slightly.
Add and blend well.
Pour into pans and bake for about 35 minutes or until done.
