Heat oven to 350. Grease 15x10x1 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, 1/3 c. butter, and egg.
Mix until crumbly.
Press in bottom of greased pan.
Bake at 350 for 8 to 12 minutes or until crust puffs and appears dry.
Cool 5 minutes.
Spread preserves over base.
Cool 25 minutes or until completely cooled.
